We organize energy barn-raisings which empower and inspire diverse groups of people to take energy conservation into their own hands.

For decades, civil rights leaders have called on white people to organize against racism and white supremacy in our own communities. We founded The Barnraisers Project because it’s well past time that we heeded that call and moved past the twin traps of polite silence and social media rock fights.

The nonprofit partners with other national racial equity organizations to provide training and coaching for leaders in white communities to disrupt historic racism, bias, and white supremacy.

So what is the Barnraisers Project? It is a project started by organizer Garrett Brooks: The Barnraisers Project coaches and trains white people to organize their friends, neighbors and colleagues for racial equity. We’re nobody’s saviors, but we’re committed to do our part to help build a better, more just world. In 2012, BarnRaisers donated $2,500 to help start a sustainable chicken project at this orphanage in Moshi.
